Edgewood - which is by far the largest sub district and drains the majority of the southern half of
the city. Generally defined by County I on the north and goes to the southern border and
between Groveland on the west and a meandering line along Jackson to the east. It includes
Silver View Pond (Wood Lake), several private ponds and several other wetlands and ponds. The
major issue in this district is the sediment levels in Silver View Pond as well as the water quality
of that pond. Additionally, the pond was created via the excavation of a wetland, something the
DNR no longer permits. The depth of this pond may always result in ongoing problems (algae
blooms). Additionally, the water management structures need attention, the culvert under the
trail is rusted through, and the vegetation is dramatically in need of restoration. The district
includes the two ponds adjacent the industrial are on the SE and those ponds may need water
quality testing. Lastly, from Silver View Pond water flows into a wetland area (across from
Random Park) and slows considerably such that decomposition of organic materials results in
ongoing 911 calls report odor of natural gas (and is in fact methane).
Greenfield — which covers the north central portion of our community with the Arden Sub -
District on the NW side, 35W on the east, this district borders the interstate on the north and the
Ardan district (County I on the south). This water is flowing north and east and joints with the
Arden District (which flows east) and 35W district (which flows north and East) into a pipe just
north of Oakwood Park which goes under 35W and daylights in Shoreview as it all flows into Rice
Creek.
Anoka County Judicial Ditch 1 comes down from Blaine (draining all of east Blaine south of 951n
Avenue through the Medtronic Property and comes under US 10 into Mounds View meandering
south and then east thru Greenfield Park. Branch 5 of that ditch starts just north of County I and
takes the majority of the water from the district and moves it into the main ditch. Branch 5 has
serious debris — downfall and garbage, from our park to the intersection of the Judicial Ditch 1.
This has caused an enlargement of the "pond" adjacent to our ballfield and has created problems
with maintenance and performance.
Northwest — which is our smallest district, a total of 13.2 acres and is a sliver of land on the NW
corner of our hamlet!
Rice Creek —which covers Kingswood Terrace and the Mustang Road/Circle industrial area.
There are no substantive issue.
Spring Creek - which covers the South West portion from Spring Lake to the Border and our
western border to a meandering line up to Long Lake. So named for Spring Creek which daylights
in the woods/swampy area near the far SW boarder. The majority of the system is in a pipe with
no major issues.
Spring Lake is the area east of the lake to Silverview and north of County I to the boulevard with
a little bit north and west. There are no major issues in the sub -district.
West Central —which is another sliver of our hamlet, just south of Spring Lake and there are no
know substantive or even minor issues.
