PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. I AUGUST 26, 20211 MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES MOUND�YIEW <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AT 6:31 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Curry, Kroeger, Lie, Palm, Sullivan,Wake Wiesner, <br />Staff: Peterson I Thomas *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 211 by Kroeger. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />June 24, 2021: Motion to approve by Sullivan, 2Id by Wake Wiesner. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />July 22, 2021: Motion to approve by Arel, 2Id by Sullivan. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT: Lillemo present <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight's agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. <br />Brian Kaden 7675 Spring Lake Rd. Concerned about the trailway connecting County Rd. H2 to <br />Spring Lake Road with an 8' wide trail with 7' distance from road resulting in loss of front yards <br />and trees. Prefers a 4' sidewalk along the curb. Concerned about the intersection at County Rd <br />I and Spring Lake Road and how to make that safe with more than a crosswalk. <br />Gary Meehlhause 7400 Parkview Drive: Approved Caribou Cabin in the parking lot of the movie <br />theatre which will bring money to the Park Dedication Fund. The Planning Commission and <br />City Council are looking at the "Simons" property being developed by a dental office which will <br />also bring money to the PDF. The City Council also improved the tennis backboard project to <br />be installed at both parks, rather than just at Groveland Park. <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Parks and Recreation — Andy: See attached report. Resident gym usage used considerably <br />more this summer than in 2019. <br />B. Public Works — Don: See attached report. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Mounds View Blvd Trail — location of benches: Look at suggested bench locations and <br />prioritize 1,3,5 (low, medium, high priority). Commissioners can group some benches <br />together as a ranking. Get the maps back to Don prior to September meeting. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Coach of the year 2019: One nomination received which would have been awarded at the <br />Town Hall in 2020, which did not happen. <br />Coach of the year 2020: One nomination received which will be announced at Town Hall <br />in September, 2021. Motion by Lillemo to recommend both nominations as Coach of <br />the Year to be recognized at the Town Hall meeting. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />B. Review Proposed 2022-2023 Street Project — Trail Segments — Spring Lake Road and <br />Mounds View Blvd. Plan for the trailway to be on the west side of Spring Lake Road. The <br />difficulty is that we have to keep the trailway at a certain width so that we don't have to <br />
