Exhibit A <br />Position Title: <br />Department: <br />Accountable to <br />Status: <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Storm Water Assistant <br />Public Works <br />Public Works/Parks and <br />Non -Exempt Part -Time <br />Recreation Director <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />Under the guidance and supervision of the Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director, this position is <br />responsible to support the Storm Water Division in the monitoring, inventory, and maintenance of the City's <br />surface water resources, including but not limited to storm water ponds, infiltration basins, and rain gardens. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Provide visual inspection and record data of Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) outfalls and <br />storm water ponds. <br />• Assists in updating Geographic Information System (GIS) of City's storm sewer conveyance and treatment <br />system with inspection data, verification of structure type, identification of unknown or missing structures <br />and pipe, and other applicable information. <br />• Assist in erosion control inspections of active construction sites. <br />• Assist in coordinating and leading educational activities with various community organizations. <br />• Assist with vegetation management for various structural and non-structural storm water Best Management <br />Practices (BMPs) such as shoreline restoration, rain garden maintenance, buffer establishment and <br />maintenance, wetland, restoration and other practices. <br />• Assist with water quality monitoring and database updates. <br />• Participate in BMPs related to the City's Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP). <br />• Assist and participate in illicit discharge and detection elimination (IDDE) activities, including dry weather <br />flow inspections and illegal connection investigations. <br />• Inspect retention and detention ponds, bio retention swales and basins, infiltration and filtration facilities, <br />sumps, grit chambers, and other infrastructure of the municipal stormwater rate control and pollution control <br />system. <br />• General administrative duties within the Public Works area, which may include answering telephones, and <br />questions, support engineering, typing, digital filing and other duties as assigned. <br />• Interact with co-workers and residents in a manner that is professional and inspires open communication. <br />• Help create and maintain a respectful workplace culture and champion's diversity and inclusion. <br />• Perform other duties consistent with the tasks of the position as assigned. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• High School graduate or equivalent <br />• Currently enrolled in college or have recently completed a bachelor's degree in a related field such as <br />geology, geographic information systems, environmental science, water resources, engineering, or <br />equivalent <br />• Certificate from the U of M storm water construction inspection <br />• Previous experience with GIS software (ESRI, ArcMap, Arclnfo, ArcView) <br />• A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Previous related experience preferred but not required <br />• Previous experience with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) <br />
