Mounds View City Council May 9, 2022 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />7. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br /> A. Mary Stewart - CPY. <br /> <br />Mary Stewart, Executive Director for CPY, introduced herself to the Council. She thanked all of <br />the Councilmembers who were able to attend the spring luncheon. She reported on how CPY was <br />working on behalf of the residents and youth of Mounds View both now and through the pandemic. <br />She discussed the great partnership she had with Abiding Savior and other local churches in order <br />to meet the needs of the youth in the community. She provided the Council with a handout and <br />discussed CPY’s budget for the coming year. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked what type of space CPY was seeking at this time. Ms. Stewart <br />reported CPY was at its capacity at Christ the King Church and was looking for additional space <br />and resources in order to serve more youth in the community. She reported 90% of the kids that <br />come to CPY were in need of transportation. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he appreciated how early college was helping students, but <br />noted there was still a population of students that would benefit from trade schools. Ms. Stewart <br />discussed how she was working to expose her youth to different trades and careers that did not <br />require a four -year degree but were still high paying jobs. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller thanked Ms. Stewart for her presentation. She stated after a discussion at a recent <br />worksession meeting the council decided to give an additional $2,500 to CPY to assist with <br />furthering their programming in the community. Ms. Stewart thanked the City Council for their <br />generosity. <br /> <br /> B. Proclamation National Public Works Week. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller read a proclamation in full for the record declaring May 22 through May 28 to be <br />National Public Works Week in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br /> C. Proclamation Building Safety Month. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller read a proclamation in full for the record declaring May to be Building Safety <br />Month in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />A. Public Hearing: Resolution 9583, Approving a Chicken-Keeping License for <br />Emileah Most at 5359 Jackson Drive. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council consider a chicken-keeping license for Emileah <br />Most at 5359 Jackson Drive. He stated this was the seventh request for a chicken-keeping license. <br />He noted staff received two communications from the neighbors in support of the request. He <br />explained the applicant meets all of the City’s requirements and staff recommends approval of the <br />request.
