International Airport. After speaking with Confidential Informants and using other surveillance <br />techniques, Investigators apprehended the second suspect as he / she was about to board a <br />flight to Europe. Both individuals were later extradited back to Iowa where they remain in <br />custody as their cases proceeds through the Criminal Justice System. <br />Case Update: In February 2020, the Mounds View VCET Investigator opened a narcotic <br />investigation into a DTO operating in the Twin Cities metro area which resulted in the seizure of <br />over 30 pounds of methamphetamine. Investigators traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to further the <br />investigation through undercover operations. In August 2020, six individuals from Minnesota <br />and Arizona were indicted and extradited back to Minnesota. In 2021, all six individuals pled <br />guilty to the conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and received sentences which ranged <br />from 60 months to 180 months. All six individuals are currently serving their federal sentences <br />throughout the United States. Other Law Enforcement agencies that assisted with the <br />investigation were the Minneapolis DEA, Phoenix DEA, Minnesota State Patrol, and the West <br />Central Drug Task Force (Fergus Falls, MN Area). <br />Case Update: In September 2020, the Mounds View VCET Investigator opened a narcotic <br />investigation into a methamphetamine dealer operating in the Twin Cities metro area. After <br />weeks of surveillance and the assistance of the Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force, <br />approximately 50 pounds of methamphetamine was recovered from a storage unit in Hennepin <br />County. The methamphetamine dealer was later indicted and charged with the conspiracy to <br />distribute methamphetamine which he / she pled guilty to in 2021. The individual was later <br />sentence to 121 months with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. <br />
