2021 Annual Report —Neighborhood Resource Officer <br />The NRO had responded to 808 calls for service in 2021 and participated in 44 community <br />outreach events. 195 of the cases were investigations received from Child Protection and Adult <br />Protection reporting maltreatment of children and vulnerable adults. <br />The Mounds View Police Department reestablished the Crime Free Multi Housing Apartment <br />Landlord Coalition. The NRO and Building Inspector met with Landlords to discuss topics <br />regarding recent crime trends and tenant rights regarding eviction processes due to Covid. The <br />Apartment Coalition meeting is rebuilding and growing in attendance with each meeting. <br />The NRO works closely with the landlords and management of rental properties. Through the <br />Crime Free Multi -Housing coalition, The NRO has sent out 27 strike letters this year to landlords <br />regarding disturbances on their properties. There have been three 2nd strike letters that have <br />been sent and no 3rd strike letters were necessary. The NRO continues to work with Code <br />Enforcement regarding on going property management issues. <br />The NRO has worked closely with the Northeast Youth and Family Services to provide assistance <br />for youth, adults, and families in need of mental health counseling and community support <br />services. This year the NRO has worked with the NYFS on 16 cases including juvenile diversions, <br />assistance for homeless individuals, and mental health services. <br />The NRO worked with four separate homeless individuals that were in Mounds View. The NRO <br />assisted the individuals with resources and finding safe shelter. <br />The NRO continues to monitor and stay consistent with predatory registry in Mounds View. The <br />NRO meets with predatory offenders to insure their information, address, and employment <br />stays current for records. This year there has been three non -compliant registered offenders <br />and seven Offenders has moved out of Mounds View. <br />The NRO worked with the community to plan and host 44 community outreach events this <br />year. Some of the events included, <br />• In March the Mounds View Police Department participated in the Polar Bear Plunge in <br />White Bear Lake. The Polar Bear Plunge is a fundraiser held annually to support the <br />Special Olympics. The Mounds View Police Department was able to raise $3,260. <br />• A Police Foundation Fundraising Event was planned at Manitou Grill on May 20tn <br />• A first annual K9 Walkathon was held on May 22"d at Silver View Park. The event <br />included a dog walk with everyone's four -legged friends, food, and a demonstration by <br />the Mounds View Police K9's. <br />■ On Earth Day, the NRO met with a neighborhood watch group and worked together to <br />clean Greenfield Park. <br />• On August 3rd the NRO organized with block Captains for the Police Department to <br />attend 27 block parties celebrating Night to Unite. <br />• On August 14tn, the NRO worked with the DNR to organize the first 4 wheeler safety <br />certification course held in Mounds View. <br />
