RESOLUTION 9695 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING CHANGE ORDER #16 FOR REPLACING THE EATON VFDS WITH <br />ABB VFDS PART OF THE MAIN WATER TREATMENT PLANT REHABILITATION <br />PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution 9419 authorizing Municipal <br />Builders Inc. to perform the Water Treatment Rehabilitation Project at WTP 1; and <br />WHEREAS, included in the project are Variable Frequency Drives (VFD); which <br />electronically control the speed in which the well motor starts; and <br />WHEREAS, MBI was informed in May of 2022, that the Eaton VFDs were on back <br />order and would arrive in September of 2022, the date was then moved to December of <br />2022, and recently revised to June of 2023; and <br />WHEREAS, MBI contacted Automatic Supply, an electronic component supplier <br />for MBI, and determined that ABB VFDs can replace the Eaton models; these are in stock <br />and readily available; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff requested a cost Change Order be submitted for purchasing and <br />installing the ABB VFDs. Staff also requested MBI explore the City receiving a credit for <br />the Eaton VFDs that would not be used; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff recommends the City Council approve the proposal from <br />Municipal Builders Inc. for Change Order #16 for replacing the Eaton VFDs with ABB <br />model VFDs, at a cost of $51,695.78; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br />View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. Accepts the Proposal from Municipal Builders Inc. for Change Order #16 with a bid <br />of $51,695.78 for ABB VFDs for the Water Treatment Plant 1 Rehabilitation Project. <br />2. The Director of Public Works is authorized to make approvals related to contract <br />modifications during construction of the Project on behalf of the City Council as per <br />the Purchasing Policy. <br />3. The Mayor and City Administrator, Staff and consultants are hereby authorized and <br />directed to take any and all additional steps and actions necessary or convenient in <br />order to accomplish the intent of this Resolution. <br />The Mounas view vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
