Item 03
Page 2of2
Recommendation:
If council wishes to move forward, the process is prescribed in statute. Council adopts a
resolution (Richfield example attachment 8) stating their intent. The process will provide the
council with community input, pricing, service options, and anything else council wishes to
explore. The current haulers have a prescribed time in which to reply, after which council can
determine the next step.
The process allows council to determine delivery levels; and that can include community input.
The process provides actual costs, allowing council to determine fiscal impacts. The process
establishes contract terms (7 years) and parameter.
The research indicates positive impacts to the environment, infrastructure, hauler accountability
and consumer costs. The process would provide the feedback allowing Council to make their
own determination.
If council wishes to proceed further, the next step would be to adopt a resolution which would
result in the process moving forward.
Respectfully,
Nyle Zikmund
City Administrator
The Mounds View Vision
A Thriving Desirable Community
