Item No: 8.D. <br />Meeting Date: March 13, 2023 <br />Type of Business: Consent Agenda <br />City Administrator Review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9716, Approving the Hire of Brian Kammerer to the Position of <br />Police Officer <br />Introduction: <br />The Police Department has experienced a reduction in staffing due to retirements and council has <br />authorized a recruitment process. <br />Discussion: <br />Staff conducted a recruitment process for the Police Officer position. The advertisement was <br />posted on the Minnesota POST Board, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the <br />National Minority Update, govjobs.com, multiple colleges for interested alumni, the League of <br />Minnesota Cities, and the City's website and social media. Staff is interviewing qualified <br />candidates as they apply. Staff interviewed two candidates in January. <br />Brian Kammerer was selected to advance in the hiring process. Mr. Kammerer successfully <br />passed the oral board examination, Chief's interview, physical agility testing, police background <br />investigation, pre -employment physical, and required psychological evaluation. Mr. Kammerer <br />has five- years' experience as a Police Officer.
