Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes <br />December 16, 2004 <br /> <br />Meeting Called to order: <br /> <br />1. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />Greenfield Park Play Equipment - <br />THE FOLLLOWING WAS READ <br />On Monday, December 13, 2004 the City Council ordered the Greenfield Playground Equipment Replacement Project and awarded the contract to Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground in the amount <br /> of $60,000.00. The City Council also approved revising the contract to include a climbing wall at an estimated cost of $4,000, with the total project cost not to exceed the budgeted <br /> amount of $64,541.05. The inclusion of said climbing wall is contingent on receiving majority approval from the Parks and Recreation Commission. The details to finalize the project, <br /> including the possible inclusion of a climbing wall and the color scheme, will need to be discussed. <br />The addition of the climbing was discussed. An “S-curve” wall is proposed. <br />Staff will check with the City’s insurance company to determine if this represents additional liability for the City. Staff will check on all of the playground equipment items –including <br /> the wall. <br />The wall can be free standing or attached to various locations of the playground equipment. <br />The wall is within the budget (adding the wall will not increase the total project cost over what was budgeted). <br />The wall has hand and foot holds on it that are bolted together. The Commissioners were concerned that the bolts would come loose. The City’s maintenance crew inspects all equipment <br /> once per week. <br />Commissioners Edmond was concerned about slipping in the winter. Dazenski replied that it would be no different than the rest of the equipment. <br />The wall would be eight (8) feet tall. It would be for ages approximately 5 to 12. There was a question if this height was an
