d) Oakwood Park Renovation Project –
Parks Supervisor Dazenski is currently designing the field.
There needs to be elevation corrections to create the field.
City crews could do the elevation corrections this fall with the extra
dirt from several City projects.
The City Forester did not think that transplanting existing trees would
work well. He recommends that new trees be planted at selected
locations. The existing cottonwoods would remain in place.
The existing playground would need to be removed. It currently is in
very poor shape. The plan would be to replace the existing playground
with a modest “tot-lot”
A plan would need to be submitted to the City Council.
The plan would include a fence along Hillview Road and a berm or
smaller fence along Quincy Street. There is also a pathway planned
along this segment of Quincy. The Parks Supervisor recommends that
only a small fence be installed along Quincy Street.
Then next steps are as follows:
1.) Develop a layout for the plan.
2.) Develop a cost estimate for the individual items in the plan.
3.) Conduct an open house for the neighborhood to get their input.
4.) Bring the proposal to the City Council with the Commissioners
recommendation and neighborhood input.
The Parks Supervisor will work on drawing up the plan for the next
meeting. He will work with the engineering technician to have the
plans overlaid onto an air photo (including proposed field, fences, new
trees, picnic tables, benches, tot-lot…). He will consult the City
Forester to develop a tree-planting plan. He will also develop a line
item cost estimate.

A motion was made to direct staff to develop the aforementioned
plan
Motion made by: Palm
nd
2: Aukee
Motion passed unanimously

e) County Road 10 Corridor Improvement Program – Design Theme
Subcommittee Update –
A meeting was held on July 20, 2005.
The architectural / engineering firm gave some ideas for eye catching
features along the corridor. These included water features, nature
forms, landscaping, etc.
The subcommittee discussed the intersections of County Road 10 and
County Road H2 and Silver Lake Road. They discussed the possibility
of adding curb and gutter to these intersections.
The subcommittee will meet again in August or September.
2
