City of Mounds View Comprehensive Plan <br />________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />96 <br />Goal and Policies <br /> <br />The following are the intergovernmental cooperation goals and policies for the City of Mounds <br />View: <br /> <br />Goal 1: Maintain effective communication with other governmental agencies <br />including the State of Minnesota, Ramsey County, other cities, the <br />Mounds View school district, and the Rice Creek Watershed District. <br /> <br />Policies: <br /> <br />a. Work with other agencies to improve communication. <br /> <br />b. Support collaborative planning for issues that cross jurisdictional boundaries. <br /> <br />c. Continue to support and participate in the North Metro I 35W Corridor Coalition. <br /> <br />d. Work with the Mounds View school district to provide cost effective services to Mounds <br />View residents. <br /> <br />e. Work with the Rice Creek Watershed District to effectively manage surface water in Mounds <br />View. <br /> <br />f. Continue to work with other communities to jointly provide services such as fire protection. <br /> <br />Existing Collaborations <br /> <br />North Metro I 35W Corridor Coalition <br /> <br />The North Metro I 35W Corridor Coalition is comprised of seven cities that have entered into a joint <br />powers agreement to create a unique collaborative effort to address housing, transportation, <br />economic development, and land use issues throughout the member cities. The group has focused on <br />the I-35W corridor, minor arterials and community collector streets that connect the communities. <br />The seven member communities are Arden Hills, Blaine, Circle Pines, Mounds View, New <br />Brighton, Roseville, and Shoreview. Together the cities encompass 83 square miles with a total <br />population of over 155,000. There are 55,000 households and 4,000 businesses with 85,000 jobs. <br />The goal of the coalition is to develop a sub-regional set of policies and strategies which improve the <br />quality of life for residents, enhance the economic climate and sustain the environmental and <br />recreational resources throughout the communities, consistent with the Metropolitan Council <br />Blueprint.
