The
established residential land use pattern should be maintained and enhanced to provide a quality
environment for all density conditions and for all housing types. Within this context, low-density
single-family detached neighborhoods are to be preserved. However, in order to provide additional
housing opportunities and to ensure environmental quality, medium-density single-family attached
housing should be introduced to provide a transition between these neighborhoods and existing or
new higher intensity multifamily or commercial uses. This should be done in appropriate areas
through redevelopment of individual parcels or through larger mixed use planned unit developments.
