Approval of April 22, 2004 Meeting Minutes: <br /> Motion to approve: <br /> 2nd: <br /> Motion passed unanimously <br /> 4. Rick Wriskey, the City Forester, provided a forestry update for the <br /> Commissioners. <br /> • This is the 23rd year of Mounds View being a Tree City <br /> • Drought concerns; two-lined Chestnut Borer are starting to affect <br /> declining Oak Trees Look similar to Oak Wilt. <br /> • Oak Wilt—lost 36 tree. Trenching is about 90% effective in containing <br /> oak wilt. <br /> • Planted 55 new trees last year./The City has a"No net loss of tree policy". <br /> Planted Sugar Maple, American Linden, Hack berry... <br /> • This Arbor Day swamp white oaks were planted in Groveland park to <br /> replace the locus trees that were removed. <br /> • Planting of trees along County Road H2 will begin in a few weeks. There <br /> will be about 30 trees planted on a contractual basis. <br /> • The City received a GIS/GPS Tree Inventory Grant. This will allow a <br /> database and layer in ArcView to be created to enable better tree <br /> management within City owned property. This was a matching fund <br /> grant. <br /> • Emerald Ask Borer; preys on ask trees. Rick provided a handout <br /> • Discussed storm damage from 5/26/2004 <br /> • Boulevard trees are typically 12 to 15 feet from the curb line. <br /> 5. Unfinished Business: <br /> a) Greenfield Park Play Equipment - request from residents to have the <br /> equipment upgraded now. <br /> • Steve met with a neighborhood group to develop a playground <br /> equipment plan for Greenfield Park <br /> • Steve presented a proposed plan to the Commissioners. <br /> 1 <br />
