Anderson The Process Used in Developing This Agenda Item (Who, When, etc. ) The Community Education Advisory Council appointed a task force to review the impact the four school closings will have on community and school district usage. Back$round(If necessary, additional information is attached) A detailed analysis outlining the actual school gymnasium usage at the four secondary schools was compiled and then compared to the potential school availability of two, three and four secondary facilities. The operation and maintenance costs for maintaining one of the secondary schools on a skeletal basis (i .e. gyms, pool and locker room area) was contrasted to current costs of operating the sites as educational facilities. In addition the C.E.A.C. task force outlined surrounding school districts experiences re- arding secondary school community resource centers and the immediate impact the closing of four school sites will have on the Cities of Mounds View and Arden Hills . A complete background report is attached for your information. Recommendation(And other courses of action the School Board might consider) The Community Education Advisory Council recommends the School Board retain one of the secondary school facilities as a community resource center and "mothball " the remaining three schools until further research can be conducted to determine their best use. • •udgetary Considerations *All Agenda Items and Recommendations Have been Reviewed by the Superintendent
