• MEMO TO: Parks and creati n Commission
mmission
o
FROM: Staff1,4
DATE: January 27, 1982 •
RE: 1982 Budget Reductions
Enclosed is a listing of 1982 budget cuts which have been formally approved
by the City Council . It appears at this time that our budget cutbacks will
not be quite as severe as originally anticipated as the State Legislature
has promised the municipalities their state aid payments for November and
December, 1981. Although we have not received them to date we have been
forwarded a certificate stating that the money would be received no later than
February 28, 1982. The total reduction in State Aid for the City of Mounds View
in 1982 will be $61 ,487.72.
11111
As can be noted on the enclosed list our department will be experiencing
$7,400.00 in budget reductions. The largest being a transfer of $5,000.00
from the recreation activity account to the general fund.
In addition to the $7 ,400.00 budget reduction , the Council recently reduced
the Forestry budget by $4 ,660.54 due to the elimination of state aids for
both sanitation and reforestation. The major area affected by this cutback
will be in reforestation as we reduced the tree planting program by $3,096.00,
the majority of which were to be planted at Silver View Park.
Staff will be providing additional budget information at Thursday's meeting.
