• MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson, Directgr'
Parks , Recreation andk.r otes ry
t Y4
DATE: December 8, 1981
RE: Winter Skating Program
As of December 8, 1981 it appears that the winter skating program will
basically be the same as staff originally proposed at the October 22, 1981
meeting. Staff has attached a flyer which outlines the proposed hours
of the five park sites at which we will be providing skating facilities.
As can be noted we will be providing winter skating rinks at both Greenfield
and Groveland Parks on a full time basis rather than splitting the hours and
providing hockey and pleasure skating rinks at Woodcrest, Lambert and Hillview
Parks.
The building program is presently as follows:
111/1
1. The Oakwood Park shelter building has been removed by
the Frontiersman Club and we do not envision any skating
facilities at Oakwood.
2. The new park shelter building that was ordered for
Lambert Park has been delivered to the City. Staff
received bids on the construction and raising of the
building as the Jaycees were not able to construct
the building. A low bid of $9,800.00 was received
for raising the building. Staff presented this
proposal to the City Council at the November 23, 1981
meeting and due to the City and State 's financial
crunch it was deemed that this project should not
be completed at this time. Staff has since re-
discussed this with the City Council and it appears
they will be re-evaluating their position at the
December 14, 1981 Council meeting.
• Staff is enclosinga memo outliningproposed costs
p P
for the shelter buildings for the Commission 's infor-
mation.
