Winter Skating Program
Page 2
December 8, 1981
•
Bids were received for the purchase of a variety of park summer and winter
maintenance equipment on November 19, 1981. Staff forwarded a report with
the recommendation to the City Council at the November 23, 1981 meeting.
The City Council felt that due to the City and State financial crunch it
is not feasible at this time to purchase any equipment. Since that time staff
has had further discussions with the City Council and it appears they will
be reconsidering their position at the December 14, 1981 meeting. At this
time our winter ice maintenance equipment is very limited as the International
Tractor is approximately 20 years old and not in the best of condition - it
is our main brooming piece of equipment. City Council has been discussing
the possibility of purchasing two cabs , a broom, and a snowblower for our
existing groundmasters which would greatly enhance our winter maintenance
program. The purchase of an additional mowing unit and attachments along
with the turf sweeper has been delayed indefinetly until a better handle can
be received on the State's financial condition .
11111
Warming house attendants have been hired and we envision commencing the
winter skating program on Saturday, December 19th following a two-day
orientation session with the new warming house staff.
Staff will be available for any further questions or update on the winter
skating program at Thursday's meeting.
1110
