PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES <br /> Page 7 ' <br /> June 25 , 1981 <br /> • <br /> 1981 PROGRAM UPDATE Staff provided a brief updated program review of the <br /> 1981 summer programs . The largest and first program <br /> was the "Festival in the Park" scheduled for July 12 , <br /> 1981 . One of the questions that was raised regarding <br /> the Festival in the Park was the potential selling of <br /> beer at Hillview Park on Saturday, July 11th for the <br /> Festival Softball Tournament . Staff indicated that <br /> the current policy is that beer can only be sold at <br /> City Hall park and recommended that this policy should <br /> be adhered to as it has worked quite well . The Commissi <br /> agreed by concensus that beer cannot be sold at Hillviev <br /> Park . <br /> Staff then provided brief comments regarding Lakeside <br /> • Beach program, saying that the Beach had been operating <br /> quite smoothly and felt that the current administration <br /> was working fairly well . Commissioner Bowman added <br /> that the Jaycees had constructed tables at Lakeside <br /> Park and they were all being used and concurred with <br /> staff that the Beach operation was running smoothly. <br /> COMMISSIONERS Commissioner Letendre stated that he was concerned <br /> COMMENTS <br /> that the Commission had assumed liability regarding <br /> Lambert Park tot lot that had been called to our <br /> attention by the neighborhood . Staff responded that <br /> the Commissions actions directing Staff to explore <br /> the area and work with the neighbors on their concerns <br /> was adequate and that the issue should be dealt with <br /> in an expediant manner . Commissioner Letendre had <br /> stated that he was concerned about the use of volunteer <br /> • umpires for our youth softball program. He further <br /> indicated t1. : t the Mounds View Jaycees would be willing <br /> to provi free voluntcr umpires for the youth soft- <br /> . ' 1 pr m, should the Commission so desire . <br />
