PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> • 'MINUTES <br /> Page 6 <br /> June 25 , 1981 <br /> e <br /> PARK BOND ISSUE on the referendum ballot to read as follows : <br /> (continued) <br /> If question number 1 is approved by the voters , shall <br /> the City of Mounds View be then authorized to increase <br /> its annual tax level by an amount not to exceed <br /> $50 , 000 . 00 for the purpose of providing funds to operat <br /> and maintain parks , park land, and related public <br /> recreational facilities in the City, which additional <br /> tax levy, if approved, shall become a permanent adjust- <br /> ment to the City ' s levy limit base as provided in <br /> • <br /> Minnesota Statutes , sections 275 . 50 to 275 . 56? <br /> It was further understood as part of the motion that <br /> it would be necessary for voters to approve both questi <br /> on the ballot in order to improve the City parks . <br /> • <br /> The motion passed unanimously . <br /> 7 ayes <br /> 0 nayes <br /> The Commission then discussed potential strategy <br /> related to the Park Referendum and felt that the <br /> issue needed to .be brought to the forefront by using <br /> the Park shelter buildings as an example of a deficient <br /> Park facility . A motion was made by Commissioner Linke , <br /> seconded by Commissioner Bowman to request that the Cit; <br /> Council formally condemn the park shelter buildings and <br /> not schedule them to be opened during the winter of <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 1981- 82 for winter skating .
