Mr. Gary DeGross
Page 2
July 27, 1981
Prior to the league playoffs on July 19, 1981 , I forwarded a third letter to
your attention dated July 17, 1981 which very clearly stated that your team was
registered in the Sr. Girls league and that your team was eligible for the
State Tournament through the league playoffs .
Following that letter, I contacted M.R.P.A. to see if it would be possible to
register your team for either the Sr. Girls "8" or Jr. Girls (assuming player
eligibility) should a vacancy occur. We then had a number of conversations both
personally and over the phone during the weeks of June 15 - 26 at which time
I indicated I was working with M.R.P.A. should a tournament spot become available.
At no time did I indicate that your team should go to St. Cloud but rather I
encouraged your team to not attend as you were not registered.
In conclusion I am extremely frustrated with your accusations and statements of 410
your team not being registered with M.R.P.A. , when in reality your team was
sanctioned and Mounds View sent a representative to both the Senior Girls "A"
and Junior Girls State Tournament. As a final comment, your further accusation
that I indicated, apparently verbally, that your team would represent Mounds View
in the Junior Girls State Tournament to my knowledge never existed. I remember
discussing the issue of a State Tournament berth and when you registered your team
as a Senior Girls team, one must assume you were aware of the process to enter
the State Tournament. Why else, Gary, would you have participated in the Senior
Girls league playoffs on July 19?
Once again, it is unfortunate that you insist on carrying this issue on , which ,
in my opinion, has been quite clearly outlined in the attached correspondence. If
you desire to discuss this issue with the Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission,
I would be more than happy to review our department's policies and conduct with them
at your convenience.
•
