We wanted a water slide as an additional
attraction to the pool.
Once the slide was proposed all the "nay sayers" began their
• chorus of problems that would occur. The insurance premium
would be to high, there would be a large number of accidents,
the water quality would suffer, the City couldn"t afford such
a structure. and on and on it went.
Now three fun filled summers sliding on the slide have past,
no one admits to having ever had a problem with the slide.
There have been no accidents, no high insurance premiums, no
water quality problems, and the additional revenues have more
than paid for the slide. Me added revenue generated each
year now helps reduce the tax burden.
Me summer of 1987 was the first summer the slide was in use.
Mere were over S6.000 uses recorded that summer and the first
three weeks of the season the slide was not in use yet.
A lot of the "nay sayers" have also enjoyed a ride down the
slide "need I say more".
Resrct fully,.
777
•
Robert J.
