• PROGRAMS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF <br /> PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY <br /> MISSION STATEMENT <br /> The mission of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is to <br /> enhance the good quality of life in the City of Mounds View with <br /> the provision of opportunities for leisure recreation activities, <br /> social activities, health and wellness programs and to provide <br /> the community with a variety of park facilities, natural open <br /> spaces, aesthetic greenspace and multi-use trailway system. <br /> PROGRAMS OF THE DEPARTMENT <br /> RECREATION ADMINISTRATION - is the "hub" of the Department <br /> providing the link for Department activities. All office type <br /> work occurs through this program. Division coordination, grant <br /> preparations, budgeting, City Council communication and reporting <br /> • and Department Head activities are included in this program. <br /> SALES AND MARKETING - publicizes City sponsored programs and <br /> activities to the community and is a basic enabling factor for <br /> the participation of recreational activities offered in the <br /> community. People need to be made aware of activities offered <br /> and must have easy access to register and participate through an <br /> information campaign. <br /> PROGRAMMING - is the organization, coordination, collaboration, <br /> community liaison work and sponsorship endeavors that result in <br /> community activities and program opportunities. <br /> PARK MAINTENANCE - provides for safe, aesthetic, functional and <br /> diverse park facilities and amenities which offer people many <br /> opportunities to pursue recreational activities and interests. <br /> PARK IMPROVEMENTS - include the replacement of old or damaged <br /> equipment, the installation of new facilities, and the <br /> acquisition and development or preservation of parklands, trails <br /> and open spaces. <br /> ATHLETIC FIELD MAINTENANCE - prepares the athletic fields for <br /> games and tournaments and keeps them in safe and functional <br /> playing order for all field users. Athletic fields include both <br /> • City park and School District facilities including softball, <br /> baseball, football and soccer fields. <br /> PARK ADMINISTRATION - provides office tasks, documentation, <br />
