The green canopy over Mounds View is a <br /> very prized asset for beauty in Mounds View. Trees in the parks, <br /> city entries, corner lots, streets and boulevards add beauty to <br /> the community. Trees offer other environmental assets including <br /> shade for cooling, air filtration, bird sanctuaries, barriers for <br /> pedestrian traffic, sight lines and other uses. <br /> TREE DISEASE CONTROL - provides city-wide inspection of trees to <br /> detect diseased trees for treatment or removal to eliminate the <br /> spread of predominately fungus and insect spread tree diseases <br /> and to nullify conditions which host disease causes ie. woodpile <br /> inspections, gypsy moth migration, tree root transfers, etc. <br /> CABLE CASTING CITY MEETINGS - is a program to increase citizen <br /> awareness of city government functions with the cable casting of <br /> City Council meetings and other special meetings. In addition, <br /> the program provides cable casting of minutes and agendas of <br /> Commissions and City Council meetings. <br /> • CABLE CASTING PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAMS - which informs the <br /> public of activities and events, topics and issues associated <br /> with the community. Cable TV programming is a newspaper of <br /> information on television. <br /> YOUTH RECREATION ACTIVITY - offers recreation activity <br /> opportunities for the youth of the community including after- <br /> school activities, school vacation activities, youth athletic <br /> programs, trips, safety programs, instructional classes, skill <br /> development programs, clinics, pre-school programs, and special <br /> events. <br /> ADULT RECREATION ACTIVITY - offers recreation activity <br /> opportunities for adults of the community including senior <br /> citizens. Activities include athletic leagues, instructional <br /> classes, trips, clubs, wellness programs, safety programs, social <br /> activities such as bridge groups, and garden club. <br /> GENERAL RECREATION ACTIVITY - provides recreational opportunities <br /> for families and special events for wide spectrums of people, <br /> includes picnic kit rentals, merchandise sales, concessions, <br /> Community Theatre production and ticket sales and other <br /> activities and contests for a wide range of participants. <br /> SWIMMING RECREATION ACTIVITY - the primary purpose of this <br /> • program is to teach children to swim and advance their swimming <br /> skills. Safety and learning new water skill activities is also a <br /> major purpose of this program.
