•
4 MEMO TO: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY
DATE: JANUARY 17, 1996
RE: BEL RAE SALE - POSSIBLE COMMUNITY CENTER
The City Council has been approached with the option to buy the
Bel Rae. The CityCouncil is discussingthis issue with the
Community Connections Task Force regarding possible partnerships
with the School District. The City Council will be discussing
this issue at future meetings.
Enclosed is information regarding possible uses for the Bel Rae
should it be purchased as a Community Center. The Bel Rae would
provide a perfect opportunity for a youth center, senior citizens
center, extra space for large facility programs such as
gymnastics, karate, and exercise classes as well as providing
space for Ramsey County and State social service and health
programs.
