-3- <br /> A motion was made by Chairperson Burmeister, <br /> seconded by Commissioner Long to establish the <br /> three grant catagories as follows : <br /> • 1 . Initial or Seed Grant Funds - This catagory <br /> would not exceed 15% of the total grant fund , and <br /> would be dedicated to new neighborhood projects <br /> • <br /> which would be funded completely through the Neigh- <br /> borhood Park Planning Fund but would have to be <br /> equally matched with labor from local neighborhood <br /> groups. <br /> 2. The second catagory would be short range pro- <br /> jects , which would be completed in one year , and <br /> cost less than $5 ,000. This fund would be 60% of <br /> the total Park Planning Fund and would need to be <br /> matched with local neighborhood monies. <br /> 3 . Long range projects which would take over a <br /> year of planning and would be a minimum project <br /> cost of $5,000. The long range monies would not <br /> exceed 25% of the Neighborhood Park Planning Fund <br /> and would request both a monetary amount and in- <br /> kind or labor services committment. <br /> The motion passed unanimously. 5 ayes 0 nays <br /> A motion was then made by Commissioner Bowman , se- <br /> 1111 conded by Commissioner Long to accept the prelimin- <br /> ary guidelines as adopted for the Park Planning <br /> Fund and direct staff to prepare a preliminary <br /> draft for review at the next scheduled Park Commis- <br /> sion meeting. Motion passed unanimously. 5 ayes <br /> 0 nays. <br /> WELLNESS PROGRAM Program Supervisor Saarion reviewed the Healthy <br /> DEVELOPMENT Lifestyle Program report and indicated that LeAnn <br /> Linder had been retained as a consultant to develop <br /> the program. Literature was distributed regarding <br /> the Healthy Lifestyle programs and discussion was <br /> held regarding the wellness seminar to be held in <br /> February. Staff further indicated that Ms. Linder <br /> would be invited to a future Park and Recreation <br /> Commission meeting to provide an indepth review of <br /> the Healthy Lifestyle Program. <br /> WINTER SKATING Program Supervisor Saarion reviewed the winter <br /> skating report and stated that we had had a very <br /> successful program to date . There were two major <br /> reasons for this success, the first being the addi- <br /> tion of four MEED people in the park maintenance <br /> division and the second being a higher quality of <br /> rink attendants from previous years. Program <br /> • Supervisor Saarion indicated that a boot hockey <br /> league would in the development stages at the local <br /> neighborhood park level . <br />
