Continue and expand the concept of <br /> neighborhood park planning councils <br /> similar to that of the Groveland Park <br /> Foundation into four other planning <br /> quandrants in the city. <br /> 3 . Staff would recommend that the Park <br /> Commission establish a listing of park <br /> priorities by individual neighborhood <br /> park with an estimated cost for improve- <br /> ment and priority to be submitted to the <br /> City Council not to exceed $50 ,000 on an <br /> annual basis. <br /> The Park Commission reviewed staff' s <br /> recommendation and discussed the issue at <br /> great length and requested that the issue be <br /> tabled until the April Commission Meeting . <br /> It was further discussed by the Commission <br /> that each of the Commissioners would speak <br /> to their neighbors to determine whether or <br /> not the new directions was a sound idea. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Bowman, <br /> 1111 seconded by Commissioner Wermager to <br /> establish a meeting with the Mounds View <br /> City Council on Saturday, April 30 at <br /> 1 : 00 p.m. to tour the City park system and <br /> evaluate the long and short term needs. <br /> The City Council also requested to meet with <br /> the Groveland Park Planning Council to <br /> review the Groveland Park Planning Council ' s <br /> progress to date and any proposed planning <br /> projects they would envision for the 1983 <br /> season . <br /> AQUATICS Staff briefly reviewed the aquatics coordin- <br /> COORDINATOR ator position stating the proposed benefits <br /> and costs and functions of the position. <br /> Following a brief discussion , a motion was <br /> made by Chairperson Burmeister, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Silvis to recommend that the <br /> City Council approve the hiring of a half- <br /> time aquatics director as outlined and re- <br /> commended by city staff. The motion passed <br /> unanimously. 7 ayes, 0 nayes <br /> REVIEW POLICY ON Staff outlined and reviewed a memorandum to <br /> VOLUNTEER RECOGNI- provide each volunteer youth coach who met <br /> • TION FOR YOUTH the following criteria : <br /> 1 . Only one jacket would be awarded per <br /> team, in case of multiple coaches, we <br /> would provide additional jackets at <br /> cost. <br />
