. -4- During the demonstrations the Burroughs-OFISWRITER and Computer Central-MICOM 3003 were withdrawn from consideration by the vendor as it was determined that they could not fit our identified needs. Of the remaining six systems the Consortium felt that the Computer Central-MICOM 3004 , Wahl & Wahl-Lanier Easy-One, and CPT-8525 were most desirable on a cost and functional basis and these vendors were invited fo demonstrate their system at the offices of the three cities. On February 3rd, 4th, and 7th the vendors demonstrated the systems to Mounds View clerical and management staff and provided the opportunity for hands-on experience. On February 8th we met with the staff and it was a unanimous decision that the Computer Central MICOM 3004 was the most desirable system. That same day the Consortium also unanimously agreed on the MICOM 3004 . The cost of the MICOM 3004 is $16 , 782 which is broken down as follows : Basic Hardware $10 ,725 Sheetfeeder 2 , 195 Communications 1 , 167 Freight & Installation 200 Software 1 , 500 Annual Maintenance Contract 995 $16 , 782 • In addition to the bid price, Computer Central will guarantee the • annual maintenance contract price for five years and provide 13 hours of technical assistance per year for each screen and for each software package they provide to revise the software to fit our individual applications at no cost . It is anticipated that such technical assistance will only be necessary under unusual circumstances due to the "user friendly" nature of the software . The MICOM 3004 was selected by the City staff as being the preferable system for the following reasons : 1 . Green on charcoal screen easy on operators eyes . 2 . Keyboard and 10 key pad detachable separately allowing for adjustment to individual operators. 3 . Graphics capability superior to other systems. 4 . Training program more extensive and covers more operators . 5. Screen shows larger characters . 6. Fewer keystrokes needed in word processing function. • 7 . "Wastebasket" feature allows preservation of documents for a • time before they are permanently removed from memory which provides another check in the document revision process .
