MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF TME f PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION City of Mounds View County of Ramsey State of Minnesota III December 16 , 1982 Mounds View City Hall Council Chambers 4 6 : 30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Wayne Burmeister at 6 : 40 p.m. ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Frank Silvis , Wayne Weflen, Wayne Burmeister , Marilynne Dennehy, Donna Bowman Commissioners absent: Edward Letendre and Cindy Wermager Councilmembers present: Bill Doty Visitors: Gary Quick and Ron Schmidt Staff present: Director Anderson and Program Supervisor Saarion APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Minutes corrected to read November 4 rather than November 24 . Commissioner Silvis made a motion IIII to accept the minutes as corrected. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bowman. Motion passed. 5 ayes 0 nayes COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT Councilmember Doty reported that the City Council approved additional funds for the warming house improvements as per the staff memorandum due to unforseen electrical expenditures . PARK SHELTER UPDATE Director Anderson reviewed the status of the park shelter buildings and stated that they would be operational for the 1982-83 skating season. VIDEO GAMES The potential use of video games in park shelter buildings as a fundraiser was reviewed by Director Anderson. An article about the use of video machines by various recreation departments through out the country was discussed. It was the consen- sus of the Commission to table discussion regard- ing the use of video games as they would cause more problems then they were worth. A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis to table the issue of video games , the motion was seconded by Commis- sioner Weflen. Motion passed 5 ayes 0 nayes 1110TCHING MACHINE BASEBALL Director Anderson presented a staff report regard- PROGRAM ing the use of pitching machines in a nine year old baseball league .
