MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF TME <br /> f PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> City of Mounds View <br /> County of Ramsey <br /> State of Minnesota <br /> III <br /> December 16 , 1982 <br /> Mounds View City Hall <br /> Council Chambers <br /> 4 6 : 30 p.m. <br /> CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson <br /> Wayne Burmeister at 6 : 40 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Frank Silvis , Wayne Weflen, <br /> Wayne Burmeister , Marilynne Dennehy, Donna Bowman <br /> Commissioners absent: Edward Letendre and Cindy <br /> Wermager <br /> Councilmembers present: Bill Doty <br /> Visitors: Gary Quick and Ron Schmidt <br /> Staff present: Director Anderson and Program <br /> Supervisor Saarion <br /> APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Minutes corrected to read November 4 rather than <br /> November 24 . Commissioner Silvis made a motion <br /> IIII to accept the minutes as corrected. The motion <br /> was seconded by Commissioner Bowman. Motion <br /> passed. 5 ayes <br /> 0 nayes <br /> COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT Councilmember Doty reported that the City Council <br /> approved additional funds for the warming house <br /> improvements as per the staff memorandum due to <br /> unforseen electrical expenditures . <br /> PARK SHELTER UPDATE Director Anderson reviewed the status of the park <br /> shelter buildings and stated that they would be <br /> operational for the 1982-83 skating season. <br /> VIDEO GAMES The potential use of video games in park shelter <br /> buildings as a fundraiser was reviewed by Director <br /> Anderson. An article about the use of video <br /> machines by various recreation departments through <br /> out the country was discussed. It was the consen- <br /> sus of the Commission to table discussion regard- <br /> ing the use of video games as they would cause <br /> more problems then they were worth. A motion was <br /> made by Commissioner Silvis to table the issue <br /> of video games , the motion was seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Weflen. Motion passed 5 ayes <br /> 0 nayes <br /> 1110TCHING MACHINE BASEBALL <br /> Director Anderson presented a staff report regard- <br /> PROGRAM ing the use of pitching machines in a nine year <br /> old baseball league .
