THE MAJOR GOAL OF THE MOUNDS VIEW PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY \\ <br /> DEPARTMENT IS TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE AND BALANCED SYSTEM OF <br /> 4111 PARKS , OPEN SPACE, TRAILS AND LEISURE ORIENTED PROGRAMS FOR ALL <br /> RESIDENTS OF MOUNDS VIEW IN AS ECONOMIC A MANNER AS POSSIBLE . <br /> There are four basic elements necessary to accomplish this goal: <br /> 1. Park and recreation facilities <br /> 2 . Recreation programming <br /> 3 . Park maintenance <br /> 4 . Forestry program <br /> RECREATION PROGRAMMING <br /> The overriding recreation objective is the continued enrichment and <br /> growth of Mounds View through leisure education and recreational <br /> opportunities for all city residents. This goal includes: <br /> 1 . Leisure recreation education 2 . Promotion in the use of <br /> 4111 recreational facilities 3 . Provision of organized, supervised <br /> and non-organized programs 4 . Development of a yearly plan of <br /> priorities and objectives to continually renovate and initiate <br /> creative and _innovative programs which will enrich community living . <br /> The LhrCC basic goal derivatives with which this department is to <br /> keep in tune with are : 1 . Enjoyment 2 . Enriched Community Living <br /> 3 . Individual Fulfillment . <br /> FORESTRY PROGRAM <br /> The primary objective of the forestry program is to preserve and <br /> supplement the existing floral canopy in Mounds View through public <br /> information, reforestation and enforcement of Minnesota Statute <br /> 18 .023 and municipal code chapter 92 and to provide additional <br /> services relative to plants for the residents enjoyment, fun and <br /> education. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION FACILITIES <br /> IIII <br /> Develop and implement a comprehensive park and recreation areas and <br /> facilities plan for the City of Mounds View in accordance with accepted <br /> i <br /> 1 <br /> standards and with special consideration of the specific needs and <br /> interests of the communi t-.' <br />
