CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Engineering GIS Tian Specialist <br />Department: Public Works — Engineering Division <br />Accountable To: Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director <br />Status: Non -Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />This is a skilled position serving as the City's technical GIS expert. With limited supervision, <br />maintain technical and engineering work related to operation of geographic information system <br />(GIS) Asset management, Pavement Management and Right of way (ROW) management and <br />applications. Perform field inspections, pavement ratings, and other technical fieldwork. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Work under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Director. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Mapping & Geographic Information System <br />• Coordinates in the conversion of paper maps and tabular information into computer <br />drawings and databases. Manages both the computer records and the original hard copy <br />information so that it is accessible to all staff. <br />• Develops the City's geographic information system through data entry, coordination with <br />other departments, and overseeing consultants hired for this purpose. <br />• Provides reporting on work history, asset history, and state mandated requirements. <br />• May provide assistance to other departments by preparing maps and presentation <br />materials, collecting data and developing data base systems. <br />• Maintains the City's Asset Management data base. <br />• Provide Drone aerial mapping and inspections if/when certified as FAA Part 107 Remote <br />Pilot. <br />Engineering & Field Inspection <br />• Participates in obtaining field information necessary for the City to manage its <br />infrastructure, including collecting traffic counts, and other field data. Maintains and <br />updates as -built drawings of water, sewer, storm sewer and other systems. <br />• Assists with inspection of public works projects by measuring work completed, <br />documenting conditions and procedures of work, and insuring compliance with plans and <br />specifications. <br />• Maintains records and enters data necessary for the pavement management system, and <br />for obtaining MSA funding for road improvements. <br />• Coordinate activities and attend meetings related to capital improvements and <br />infrastructure projects of other government agencies that affect City infrastructure, <br />operations, and other interests. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Provides information to the public on a variety of topics including wetland maps, map <br />resources in general, City infrastructure, grading and drainage issues, and public works <br />projects and development projects. <br />Performs other duties as assigned by the Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director. <br />0 Assist and participate in development of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) <br />
