RESOLUTION NO. 9744 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING POLICE DEPARTMENT REFERRAL AND RETENTION BONUS <br />POLICY AND POLICE DEPARTMENT TUITION REIMBURSEMENT POLICY <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View Police Department is currently seeking to fill positions in a <br />tight job market; and <br />WHEREAS, staff is creating incentives to encourage recruitment, retention and marketing for <br />available positions within the Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, a referral incentive and retention bonus policy specific to the Police Department has <br />been credited to encourage all staff to encourage Police Officers to apply at the City of Mounds View; and <br />WHEREAS, if a referred candidate is hired and completes Field Training, the referring staff member <br />will receive a $2,500 staffing bonus; and <br />WHEREAS, if the referred candidate is a new Police Officer with no Police Officer experience, they <br />will receive a total of $3,000 per the policy; <br />WHEREAS, if the referred candidate is a lateral Police Officer with Police Officer experience, they <br />will receive a total of $6,000 per the policy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey <br />County, Minnesota does hereby approve: <br />• Attachment 1: The Police Department Referral Incentive and Retention Bonus Policy <br />• Attachment 2: The Police Department Tuition Reimbursement Policy <br />Adopted this 24th Day of April, 2023 <br />Gary Meehlhause, Acting Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />(seal) <br />
