Anderson', 111r <br /> o <br /> Parks , Recreation, ,o ".s, ry <br /> DATE: September 22, 1982 <br /> RE: MONTHLY UPDATE - AUGUST 1982 <br /> The following issues and programs are outlined to provide the Commission <br /> with a better overview of the department' s day-to-day operations. Each <br /> of the listed items are strictly information oriented and not intended for <br /> formal Commission action. <br /> 1 . Groveland Park Fundraising - The Groveland Park Fundraising Council <br /> held a fundraiser at the park on Saturday, September 11 , 1982 , to <br /> raise money for developing Groveland Park. The day was extremely <br /> successful , with over 300 local neighbors attending the myriad of <br /> activities that were planned ranging from a local volleyball tourna- <br /> ment, concession sales , cake walk, bingo, paint-a-face, and the City <br /> puppet wagon. In addition to the day' s activities the Groveland Park <br /> Fundraising Council also held a raffle which raised approximately <br /> $1 ,200.00 in revenue which will be allocated for future park development. <br /> The next meeting of the Groveland Park Fundraising Council has been <br /> scheduled for Monday, September 27th , at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. <br /> 2. Park Vandalism - The only major park vandalism that has occurred during <br /> the past month has been to the Lakeside Park Shelter Building which <br /> staff outlined in another report and two soccer nets that were stolen <br /> from Pinewood Elementary School . The soccer nets at Pinewood Elementary <br /> School have been recovered and we will be receiving financial remuneration <br /> from the individual who burned them. <br /> 3. Edgewood Community Resource Center - The Edgewood Community Resource <br /> Center held their grand opening the week of September 14th through the <br /> 17th and our department participated in a number of the activities from <br />
