1985 PORESTRY PROGRAM OBJECTIVES <br />^ The primary goal of the forestry program is to preserve and <br />, supplement the existing grcen canopy in Mounds View through <br />�� public information, tree and landscape planting and enforce- <br />ment of Minnesota Statute 1A:023 and Municipal Code Chapter 9. <br />1. To inspect, identify and have properly removed, all <br />diseased elm and oak trees in accordance with Municipal <br />Code Chapter 92. <br />2. To keep the yearly Mounds View elm loss to less than 2 per <br />cent of t�e remaining elm population and oak wilt losses <br />to less than 50. <br />3. To landscape and plant the eastern half of City Hall front <br />entrance. <br />4. To plant 50 new, hearty shade [rees in Silver View Park as <br />replacements for those trees vandalized or winter killed <br />in 1984. <br />� <br />5. To continue transplanting large tree stock from the coop- <br />i� � erative nuraery, City Hall nursery and Ardan Park holding <br />� area to areas in need of shade and buffering in existing <br />parks. <br />6. To increase citizen awareness and participation in Mounds <br />View's forestry pcoyram through news articles, presenta- <br />tiona, specfal planting projects, City newsletter and <br />special mailings. <br />7. To emphasize a proqram of tree and landscape care on both <br />private and public property includinq racent updates on <br />tree cara methode, i.e. trimming and pests. i.e. gypey <br />moth. <br />8. To initiate the process of clearance trimming on Mounds <br />View boulevards. <br />9. To expan0 the flower plantiny program to include all park <br />signa, City Hall grounds, and other applicable areas <br />(Grovelantl Shelter, City Hall interior, new path). <br />� <br />�, - <br />�`;. _... .. <br />
