Facilities that the residents are currently <br />utilizing. <br />4. Determine what additional park and recreation <br />facilities would be requested in each neighborhood. <br />5. A listing of activities that residents would like to <br />participate in. <br />Staff would not envision that this would be a <br />lengthy study or detailed analysis but rather a <br />form outlining the basic description of the neighbor- <br />hood and a random sampling to detcrmine what types <br />of programs or facilities their respective neighbor- <br />hood desires. <br />B. To strengthen and reenforce community pride and develop a <br />stronger neighborhood bond. To work with the Park and <br />Recreation Department in the development of two annual <br />neighborhood special events which might include: <br />1. Neighborhood block parties. <br />2. Community barbecues. <br />3. Tug 'o war challenge matches. <br />4. Street dancing. <br />5. Neighborhood booya party. <br />6. Winter fun night; inclu�ing possibly sleigh rides, <br />neighborhood skating party, family tobogganing and <br />sliding. <br />7. Splash parties at Edgewood Community Center. <br />8. Softball leagues by neighborhood, in cooperation <br />with the Parks and Recreation Department. <br />9. Neiqhborhood bzidge parties. <br />10. Gourmet food clubs, etc. <br />C. Neighborhood park planning councils would serve as an <br />extension of the municipal recreation department and <br />Parks and Recreation Commission on all matters relating <br />to park development and recreation programs in their <br />respective area. Staff feels that a reoresentative from <br />the Park Commission could act as a liason between the <br />neighborhood park planning councils and the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br />o� <br />
