Nealth and Fitness <br />opportunities provide a personal awareness that often motivates <br />individuale to choose healthier lifestyle behaviors, thus enhancing <br />theit quality of life. <br />THEME <br />"HEALTHY PEOPLE� A COMMUNITY OF ACTIVE� HAPPY PEOPLE" <br />OIIJECTIVES <br />To modify exlsting recreation programs to incorporate the Healthier <br />Lifestyle wellness concept. <br />To aggressively market a wellness concept to an over-communicated society <br />Hire a consultant to creatively develop an image, theme, promotion of <br />materiala and logo to represent the theme. <br />Initiate en image change in the reaponee to the national trend Lowazd <br />personal responsibility and well-read, informed, and fitness conscious <br />consumers. A wholistic approach was incorporated considering not jus! <br />` the physical, but the Gotal person's needs. <br />GOALS <br />To increase viaibility of the Park and Recreation Departments as <br />providing wellness related areas to the communities <br />To improve health behaviors of individuals, families and oommunities, <br />by encouzaqinq people t� make positive lifestyle changes. <br />To help people increase their knowledge in the areas of: Exercise <br />Nutrition, Stresa Management, Mental well-being, Smoking/Chemical use, <br />and Communieations. <br />To offer a variety of Health and Fftness options for all age groups. <br />To offer economical, yet quality opportunities to improve lifestyle. <br />To encourage a spirit o£ community, a social support system. <br />To provide apecialized servicea !o community churches, businesses and <br />variou� privale segments of the communities. <br />To emphasize atart small stepa, but do etart, making comfortable proqress <br />` 7b offer a reward system for personal commitment and ongoing reinforce � <br />ir <br />
