MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
11/1 FROM: St.-j
DATE: October 24 , 1984
RE: Fall Recreation Program Update
Attached is a copy of the November-December City Newsletter high-
lighting some of the fall recreation program offerings. I would
call the Commissions attention to a new program offering enti-
tled, "Get into a Leisure Affair" , which will highlight four high
risk recreation programs on Wednesday evenings.
The programs will include ultralights, white water canoeing , sky-
diving , and scuba diving. It is staff ' s thought that there are
people who would be interested in finding out more about these
high risk activities before they invest alot of money, and we
will be curious as to whether or not residents share our views on
this program.
Other programs of interest include a the Winter Fair Equipment
• Swap, which we coordinate with the three other recreaton depart-
ments and the school district. Based on prior years attendance ,
we expect between 300 - 500 people to participate in the ski and
skate swap scheduled for November 17 .
In addition we are offering a "Lunch with Santa" program which we
have expanded this year to coordinate with the Mounds View Jaycee
Women and the new "Pre-school Holiday Story and Craft" class.
Staff will be reviewing these and other programs at Thursday
evenings Park and Recreation Commission meeting .
BKA/sll
Attachment
•
