e <br /> -3- <br /> i <br /> PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT Director Anderson indicated that the new <br /> UPDATE playground equipment had been installed at <br /> Lambert Park along with the refurbishing of <br /> equipment from Red Oak School. Staff in- <br /> vited the Commission to stop by Lambert <br /> Park to see the new creative play area. <br /> Staff reviewed a staff report on the base <br /> material to be used for Random Park. It <br /> was staff ' s recommendation that sand be <br /> utilized as a base material from both a <br /> safety and play perspective . A motion was <br /> made by Commissioner Silvis, seconded by <br /> Commission Weflen to recommend the use of <br /> sand as a base material at Random Park. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. 4 ayes 0 <br /> nayes. Staff indicated that the equipment <br /> for Random Park was scheduled to be deliv- <br /> ered the second week in July with installa- <br /> tion scheduled for mid-August. <br /> � <br /> RECREATION PROGRAM Program Supervisor Saarion highlighted the <br /> PDATE summer recreation programs including the <br /> Festival in the Park program scheduled for <br /> Saturday and Sunday , July 7 and 8 . Ms. <br /> Saarion indicated that the parade would be <br /> held on Saturday, July 7 with the major <br /> activities scheduled for Sunday , July 8 . <br /> Staff indicated that there were concerns <br /> regarding the increased dependence on the <br /> recreation activity fund for recreation <br /> expenditures and requested that the Commis- <br /> sion review program fees at their regularly <br /> scheduled August Park and Recreation Com- <br /> mission meeting . <br /> WELLNESS PROGRAM UPDATE Staff distributed a yearend report on the <br /> wellness program and indicated that the <br /> program had been well received by the com- <br /> munity but was currently in the process of <br /> reorganization , as Wellness Coordinator <br /> Linder was no longer employed by the City. <br /> Staff ' s future direction for the wellness <br /> program includes the hiring of a <br /> consultant and continued cooperation with <br /> III the City of New Brighton. We are currently <br /> in the process of reviewing consultants to <br /> fill Ms. Linder' s position . <br />
