MEMO TO: Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Mary Saarion, Director
Parks , Recreation and Forestry Dept .
DATE: January 14, 1987
RE: A list of amenities for consideration for Woodcrest Park
Staff pursued the possibility of getting the ditches on the west and
south sides of Woodcrest Park finished. It was explained to me that
there is basically no chances for such improvements to that storm
water sewer ditch in the near future because of the high cost,
priority ranking and ownership. The City owns the south ditch but the
west ditch is Ramsey County' s .
It is staff' s suggestion that the Commission bypass plans for the
ditch improvements and plan instead to develop the park with amenities
so that it can provide as many opportunities for usership as possible
as quickly as possible to meet the immediate needs of the residents in
the area.
Here is a list of amenities that staff believes would offer many
opportunities for usership and would beautify the park:
Play structure $ 9, 358.00
Sand and timbers (tot lot, parking lot, other1 , 595 .00
*Shelter windows and repair 3 , 000 .00
Landscaping of the ditch areas 500 .00
Two inground picnic tables 756.00
1111 Two benches 335 .00
Drinking fountain 977 .00
Bike rack 236.00
Heavy duty grill 252 .00
Miscellaneous expenses 3 , 000 .00
$20 , 009.00
*Landscaping the shelter will be done this summer with monies coming
from the Forestry fund.
