CURRENT PARK PROJECTS
The Greenfield Park play structure Is being constructed at this present time
• and it is hoped to be completed this Fall .
The Groveland tennis courts project is under way with the preliminary work.
The soil corrections are being done by Mary Anderson Homes and NSP is burying
all above ground lines. In addition, the electical wiring from the shelter
had to be modified for the underground wiring.
These two projects have been more costly than anticipated. The estimate for
NSP underground wiring was $7,000 and the actual cost is $9,970. The soil
corrections were estimated at under $6,000 and it will be completed for under
$7,000. The $4,000 additional monies will come out of the Groveland Park Fund
account.
An irrigation system will be installed in the front grounds of City Hall .
This system will provide for a safe and attractive City Hall grounds during
the day-to-day business as well as for the many special events and routine
users of City Hall grounds during the Spring, Summer and Fall activities.
This sytem will eliminate the hazardous and unattractice lawn hoses and will
provide for the many hundred of dollors worth of trees a beneficial watering
system. Finally, this system will free up workers from the tedious task of
watering trees and grass to instead provide more beautification projects such
as planting, trimming and mowing.
FUTURE PARK PROJECTS
1110 WINTER:
Skating rinks are the next project which will take lots of maintenance hours.
The initial ice development and continued maintenance of both ice and shelters
is a daily task. It is my ambition to assist the crew in any way reasonable
in providing a comfortable and enjoyable leisure skating activity opportunity
for residents. This means a clean, safe and warm shelter, a competent,
friendly and helpful shelter supervisor and good skating ice.
It is also my ambition to keep the opportunities open for people to use
Silver View Park for winter activities. Silver View Park has the sliding hill
and cross country skiing trails. To appeal to people for these activities,
the parking lot must be plowed at every snowfall that warrents street plowing.
Also, a strict schedule of ski trail tracking must be done to maintain a good
touring groove. This park has a great opportunity for winter activity but It
must be accessible to the public. Plowing offers that accessibility.
SPRING:
Two early Spring projects will include installation of a new slide or small
play structure at City Hall Park to replace the tornado slide and merry-go-
round, both of which are hazards. The other project is the construction of
the Groveland Park tennis courts and hard court surface area. Money has been
budgeted for both of these items.
