-2- <br /> Aquatics Supervisor Rechtzigel stated he is <br /> developing seminar and training programs on <br /> safety in pools, ponds , and lakes and that <br /> his long term goal is to provide a safe aqua- 4111 tic environment for the Cities of Mounds View <br /> and New Brighton . <br /> REPORT FROM COMMIS- Commissioner Silvis distributed a copy of the <br /> SIGNERS WUORI , LONG MRPA Legislative Platform and suggested that <br /> AND SILVIS REGARDING Commissioners get to know there legislators <br /> MRPA PARK COMMISSION and urge them to promote the MRPA Legislative <br /> MEETING Platform and other park and recreation relat- <br /> ed issues. Commissioner Wuori added that the <br /> program was good but that they tried to cover <br /> too many issues in a short time . Commission- <br /> er Long stated that the MRPA would like to <br /> conduct these joint commission meetings on a <br /> regular basis. <br /> Commissioner Silvis asked if the Mounds View <br /> Park and Recreation Commission was a member <br /> of MRPA. Director Anderson stated that the <br /> Commission members were not members of MRPA. <br /> Commissioner Wuori stated that she would be <br /> in favor of joining the MRPA and Director <br /> Anderson said he would look into the possi- <br /> bility. <br /> SUMMER RECREATION Director Anderson asked if all the Commis- <br /> 4110 <br /> PROGRAM sioners had received the most recent bro- <br /> chures and stated that the Post Office had <br /> recently changed some of the routes in Mounds <br /> View without notifying the City offices so we <br /> were experiencing some difficulties in the <br /> newsletter deliveries. <br /> Director Anderson briefly discussed some of <br /> the programs, stating that adult softball <br /> will be starting the week of May 5 . He <br /> added that many of our past years programs <br /> such as "Butterflies are Free" , Summer Play- <br /> centers, and the Puppet Wagon , would be con- 1 <br /> tinuing this year. New programs offered this <br /> summer are Mini-soccer and a Gym and Swim <br /> Program, in addition to the increased senior <br /> citizens programs such as "Sr . Adventures" <br /> Out to Lunch" Club, 500 and Cribbage Clubs. <br /> Commissioner Wuori suggested that we use the <br /> amphitheater for more events than just the <br /> "Arts in the Parks" . Some of her suggestions <br /> were local choir concerts, and summer school <br /> orchestra and band performances. <br />
