These fixtures <br /> need to be on tall poles to reach the far side of the pleasure rink. • <br /> The dark spots are in the eastern and southern ice areas. These <br /> areas lie in the middle of the softball field and for this reason <br /> light must be directed to it from poles on the western side. <br /> Woodcrest Park pleasure rink has the greatest need for lights. The <br /> only light source is two fixtures , one on each west hockey rink <br /> light pole. These two fixtures barely cover one-fourth of the total <br /> pleasure rink. The central and western area of the rink is very <br /> dark. At a minimum, two more poles with fixtures are needed to <br /> sufficiently light the Woodcrest pleasure rink. <br /> Security Lighting. Please refer to my memo from last meeting. <br /> Residents that attended the Park Security meeting did not feel a <br /> need for security lighting at Silver View Park. This surprised me. <br /> They felt that security lighting would attract users after curfew <br /> and may contuse the wild animals and fowl. <br /> Statf wishes to discuss the Park and Recreation Commission ' s desires <br /> for security lighting. Perhaps a standard could be established. <br /> The goal of the 1989 security lighting budget could be achievement <br /> of that standard. <br /> Staff suggests that Commissioners tour each park during the dark <br /> hours to see firsthand the needs for security lighting. • <br /> MS/SL <br /> • <br />
