MEMO TO: MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR n(
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY 1"J
DATE: JULY 13, 1988
• SUBJECT: HILLVIEW PARK RE-DEVELOPMENT
The residents living next to and across the street from Hillview
Park have been invited to the Parks and Recreation Commission
meeting for input regarding the redevelopment of Hillview
Park.
The costs of projects identified on the plan for Hillview Park as
agreed upon by the Commission at the June meeting are given below.
The largest cost, electrical work, has not been received as of
today. Gopher Electric is working on a proposal for the work at
Hillview Park including the hockey rink lighting , building
electricity, security lighting , and pleasure rink lighting. This
proposal should be received by the meeting date, July 28.
I have discussed the redevelopment with Milt Anderson at NSP and his
decision is that the original power source in the park be retained
as the power source for the new electrical work.
HILLVIEW REDEVELOPMENT COSTS
Electrical Package: $
( to be given at the meeting )
Hockey rink lighting
Building electricity
Pleasure rink lighting
Security lighting
Building:
Moving, foundation and ramps $ 6,000. 00
Landscaping $ 1 , 275. 00/
Grading of 1/2 park and redevelopment of
storm water sewer drainage for the park $ 2,000. 00 ,
TOTAL $
Optional Field Fencing : Complete $ 7 ,630. 00
8 ' outfield fence with gate and
5 ' sideline fences
Outfield only: $ 4,000. 00
The City will be receiving $17 , 000 for a Parks Dedication fee from
Amoco Oil Company. Otherwise, the Parks and Recreation Improvement
Fund has been depleted bythe Silver View Park parking lot project.
The department is requesting $14 ,000 from the general fund for the
1989 budget to replenish the Park Improvement Fund. However, since
• the budget has not been adopted for 1989 , it is not a definite
source of funding. Therefore, funding of this project poses a
problem. This can be an issue to discuss with council liaisons.
MS/SL
