RAMSEY COUNTY SOCCER PARTNERS PROGRAM <br /> REQUEST FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS <br /> The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No 99-396, adopted on October 5, 1999, <br /> established the Ramsey County Soccer Partners Program to accelerate the acquisition and development <br /> of youth soccer facilities. Cities, school districts and townships within Ramsey County are invited to submit <br /> grant applications, in the attached form, by October 15, 2000. Applications should be submitted to the <br /> Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department, 2015 North Van Dyke Street, Maplewood, Minnesota <br /> 55109. <br /> Following the deadline, all applications will be reviewed, evaluated and ranked by the program's Technical <br /> Advisory Committee (TAC) based on established criteria. The recommendations of the TAC will be <br /> reviewed by the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Commission and the Ramsey County Capital <br /> Improvement Program Advisory Committee. <br /> Grant contracts will be awarded in December 2000 by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. <br /> Questions regarding the program or applications should be directed to Greg Mack, Director, Ramsey <br /> County Parks and Recreation Department, at 651-748-2500. <br /> MISSION STATEMENT <br /> S Recognizing the acute shortage of soccer facilities, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners <br /> intends to provide financial assistance to cities, townships and school districts for acquisition and <br /> development of youth soccer facilities within Ramsey County. <br /> GOAL <br /> To establish 24 new youth soccer fields within Ramsey County by the year 2004. <br /> FUNDING <br /> Subject to annual appropriation, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners intends to <br /> appropriate approximately $2.5 million over the next five years (1999-2003) for partnership grants <br /> to accelerate land acquisition and development of youth soccer fields, contingent upon local units of <br /> government agreeing to provide ongoing maintenance. For 1999-2000, the County Board <br /> appropriated $1,000,000. <br /> GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION <br /> Over the life of the Soccer Partners Program, Ramsey County will attempt to award partnership <br /> grants equitably throughout the County based on need and willingness on the part of other public <br /> entities to participate in the capital improvements and provide ongoing maintenance and <br /> operations. <br /> Geographical distribution will be evaluated on the basis of access to soccer facilities, irrespective of <br /> political boundaries. <br /> S <br /> 1 <br />
