An additional 38 percent indicated that family <br /> members and nearby relatives were somewhat likely to use the facility. <br /> According to the surveyors, approximately 46 percent of the senior <br /> households in the area can be expected to use a well publicized senior <br /> citizens center. <br /> The seniors also demonstrated a willingness to drive an average of <br /> 12.5 minutes to reach the regional senior citizens center, and like the <br /> population as a whole, most of the potential users told us that they were in <br /> the 6 to 15 minute driving range. Although the seniors are much more <br /> • likely to use a senior center than the population as a whole, they seem to <br /> be somewhat less willing to support it with 9xes. A majority of the <br /> seniors, however, would be willing to see the taxes raised by $8.38 per <br /> year to fund the construction and operation of the center. <br /> Although 32 percent of the senior citizens were unwilling to pay any <br /> additional taxes, 22 percent indicated that they would be willing to pay as <br /> much as $20 more per year for the funding of a regional senior citizens <br /> center. <br /> The survey also revealed that support for a senior citizens center was <br /> fairly widespread within each of the four communities.
