411 CITY STAFF MEMORANDUM
FROM: MARY SAARION
DATE: JULY 8, 1992
SUBJECT: DUMPINGS AT ARDAN PARK
Rick Wriskey called today to inform me that he observed a large
amount of dumping behind the woodchip pile at Ardan Park. The
dumping material is tree branches, arborvitae bush trimmings,
stumps, timbers and posts. This material is suspected to be from
a small landscaping contractor. The material seems to have been
dumped coming from the north of the woodchip pile which means
that a small pickup or one ton may have been used. Rick predicts
that the amount of trash could accumulate up to $700. 00 or more
to dump. This is a big problem! !
I am soliciting the assistance of all City employees to keep
their eyes and ears out for suspicious users of the compost site.
Most likely the dumpers are coming in at night. It is a huge
cost to the city to dispose of this material. The site is posted
• with information forbidding the dumping of branches and other
non-compost materials. Parks Maintenance will put up a fence
around the wood chip pile offering another visual indication that
any other materials are not welcome.
Your help in any way of finding the culprit or educating the
general public to the fact that Ardan Park is not a dumping site
would be greatly appreciated. Ardan Park offers the residents
free wood chips and compost with a regulated and controlled
program through the cooperative efforts of Ramsey County and the
City of Mounds View.
•
