RSCC Minutes
July 8, 1992
Page three •
BUILDING
AESTHETICS: Mr. O'Brien asked what kind of image the Task Force wished
for the building. It was suggested that the building should
have adequate window space, should be warm and inviting,
should not have block walls or cubicles, should blend into the
area that it is located, such as a natural setting at the Anoka
site, and a face lift at the Rice Creek Plaza site. The building
should require low maintenance.
The Anoka site may offer a terrain conducive to a two story
building (basement) but this would require a elevator if used
for public use, but would only require outside entrance if
used for only storage.
The building could be a wood frame building which would
provide more options for interior finishings and would
provide more character. This option is often less expensive.
NEXT MEETING It was suggested that the City Councils of the four cities be
invited to the next meeting on July 22, 1992. Agenda items at
this meeting would be to include a synopsis of where we are
at the present time, and a discussion with the architect on the
two sites plans and alternatives and options available.
It was agreed that all four city councils would be invited.
Each staff member is responsible to make sure that their
respective councilmembers are invited to the meeting.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 9:05.p.m.
NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE FRIDLEY CITY HALL AT
7:00 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 1992.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Saarion, Director
Mounds View Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept.
•
