CITY OF SHOREVIEW <br />MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING <br />April 17, 2023 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor ❑enkinger called the workshop meeting of the Shoreview City Council <br />to order at 5 pm on April 17, 2023. <br />ROLL CALL <br />The following attended the meeting: <br />City Council; Mayor ❑enkinger; Councilmembers Doan, and Myrland <br />Councilmembers Johnson and Springhorn arrived late. <br />Staff: Brad Martens, City Manager <br />Steve Benoit, Parks and Recreation Director <br />Becky Sola, Recreation Program Manager <br />Guests: Jennifer Dickinson, Director Legal Services for Tubman <br />Emily Barnhill, Victim Advocate, Tubman <br />GENERAL BUSINESS <br />DISCUSSION WITH TUBMAN <br />Jennifer Dickinson stated that the purpose ❑f meeting with the council is to <br />explain Tubman services and request a donation in funding. Tubman has <br />provided legal services in the east metr❑ area since 1981, in partnership with <br />the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and the law firm of Kelly and Lemmons. In <br />addition to legal aid, their services include safe shelter, counseling and <br />community education. <br />Tubman legal advocacy services cover all cities in Ramsey and Washington <br />Counties, as well as Minneapolis and Crystal to provide services for victims ❑f <br />domestic violence. There is a designated intervention line for law <br />enforcement to report domestic violence. Tubman then contacts the victims <br />to make sure they are safe and let them know Tubman legal services will <br />contact them the next business day. Tubman goes to court with the victim, <br />explains the court services and helps them get what they need, such as order <br />for protection, child support, limited parent time, housing, and finances. <br />
