IU <br />MOUNDSIVIVW <br />�ity of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: <br />08H <br />Meeting Date: <br />August 14, <br />2023 <br />Type of Business <br />Council <br />Business <br />City Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor, and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9796, Authorization to contract with Stantec for <br />planning services. <br />Introduction: <br />Council has been advised that our Community Development Director Jon Sevald has accepted <br />a new position in another City. <br />Discussion: <br />In reviewing the options, staff is recommending that we use contract services for 6 months to a <br />year to evaluate the need for replacement. In the interment, Assistant Administrator Brian <br />Beeman would serve as the supervisor of the division and a pay adjustment would be <br />forthcoming for that. <br />Actual planning would be done by Stantec per their proposal which is attached. <br />Staff would evaluate at the end of the year and make a determination to continue with an <br />extension or explore the hiring of a Planning Technician. <br />Mr. Beeman would manage the contract with Stantec as part of his supervision duties. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br />Maintain viable workforce <br />Financial Impact: <br />Estimated savings over current salary and benefits but difficult to determine at this time. <br />Recommendation: <br />Adopt resolution 9796 to contract with Stantec for City Planning services. <br />Respectfully, <br />Nyle Zikmund <br />City Administrator <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
