Exhibit D <br />1 <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Job Title: <br />Lead Counselor <br />Grade: <br />Seasonal <br />Supervisor Title: <br />Parks and Recreation Superintendent <br />Department: <br />Parks and Recreation <br />FLSA Status: <br />Non-Exempt/Seasonal <br />Date Reviewed: 2/7/2024 <br />Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: <br />➢ Be at least 16 years of age. <br />➢ One (1) year of experience working with youth in a recreational, summer camp, athletic, or educational <br />setting. <br />➢ Have the desire to work with the public. <br />➢ Be available to work a part- time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. <br />Nature of Work: <br />This position is responsible to facilitate, lead, and supervise program participants in games, arts and crafts, and <br />other planned activities at the Explore More Summer Camp program. <br />Communicates with: <br />Internally —Parks and Recreation staff. <br />Externally —General public. <br />Supervision: <br />None <br />Essential Work Functions: <br />• Responsible for the direct supervision of a designated camp group. <br />• Implement age appropriate activities for youth and program curriculum as directed by program Coordinator. <br />• Provide a safe environment with clear rules and expectations for participants. <br />• Provide guidance and role modeling for youth participants, Leaders in Training, and Assistant Counselors. <br />• Acts as a mentor to an assigned Leader in Training and assists in teaching basic_ job, leadership, and facilitation <br />qualities and techniques <br />• Manages daily roster of group participants and assists coordinators with the drop-off and pick-up process <br />• Communicates with parents and guardians as necessary <br />• Assists program coordinators in the development and implementation of participant behavior plans when <br />necessary <br />• Manage assigned group room, equipment, and materials and supervise cleaning schedule, maintenance needs, <br />and daily upkeep of said resources. <br />• Organize and/ or participate in activities and special events for youth. <br />• Inspect program area daily for any safety precautions prior to youth arriving on site. <br />• Maintain equipment or supplies used for activities. <br />• Report any lost or damaged equipment to supervisor. <br />
